Mary DeFeo

Postdoctoral scholar

Mary joined us after completing her PhD in Dr. Dylan Dodd’s lab at Stanford University where she studied the anaerobic metabolism of amino acids in gut bacteria. Before that, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in veterinary sciences at Penn State University where she studied ruminant nutrition in Dr. Tara Felix’s lab. Mary is broadly interested in the biochemistry of host-microbiota relationships and the role that commensal microbes play in human physiology. Outside of the lab, Mary loves to read, cook, and hang out with her cat, Sandie.
